CLASS STRUCTURE

  1. What will I learn in the women's self-defense class?

    • Our classes cover a range of self-defense techniques, including situational awareness, physical techniques, and verbal strategies.

  2. How long is each class session?

    • Our classes typically run for 1 HR, including warm-up exercises, instruction, and practice.

  3. Do I need prior self-defense experience to join the class?

    • No prior experience is required. Our classes are suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience.

  4. What should I wear to the class?

    • Wear comfortable workout attire and athletic shoes. Avoid wearing jewelry or clothing that could restrict movement.

  5. Are the classes physically demanding?

    • Our classes are designed to accommodate various fitness levels. Participants can choose their level of physical intensity.

  6. Do I need to have previous experience in self defense?

    • ​​The Lioness Instincts is a Self Defense program that welcomes anyone, no matter their level of knowledge or experience. We specialize in designing courses catered to beginners so that anyone can feel comfortable while they learn valuable life-saving techniques. We cover a variety of scenarios so you can feel prepared no matter what type of situation you find yourself in, without feeling overwhelmed. Our program is designed to be a fun and empowering experience and we can’t wait to have you join us.

CAN I BRING A SNACK?

At The Lioness Instincts, we understand the importance of replenishing your energy after a hard workout. That's why we recommend bringing a snack to enjoy after class.

Please note that we ask you not to bring any food or drinks onto the mats, as they can be slippery and dangerous during training.

MEMBERSHIP

  1. How do I become a member of The Lioness Instincts women's self-defense class?

    • To become a member, simply sign up for our classes on our website or contact us via contact form or social platforms.

    • We also offer package deals and private session bundles. Check our Schedule and Book Online page for more details.

  2. What is the membership fee, and what does it include?

    • Membership fees vary depending on the package you choose. They typically cover access to a specified number of classes and any necessary training materials.

  3. Is there a minimum commitment for membership?

    • There is no minimum commitment. You can sign up for individual classes or choose a membership package that suits your needs.

  4. Can I attend a single class without a membership?

    • Yes, we offer drop-in options for those who prefer not to commit to a full membership. You can pay per class.

  5. Is there an age restriction for the women's self-defense class?

    • Typically, participants must be at least 12 years old to join our classes.

    • Participants of all ages are welcome in our self-defense classes. We believe in inclusivity and welcome anyone under the age of 12 to join, provided they demonstrate respect for the class, our instructors, and fellow participants

  6. Can I bring a friend, child, parent, or partner to watch the class?

    • We welcome anyone to bring a friend and join them for a class. We understand that motherhood and caregiving can make it difficult to find time for yourself, so guests are welcome to sit in our waiting area and watch the class. We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all.

COMMON CONCERNS

  1. Will there be male instructors or participants in the class?

    • Our classes are tailored exclusively for women, and our instructors (of all identities) are trained to create a safe and supportive environment. 

  2. What safety measures are in place during the class?

    • We prioritize safety and provide guidance on safe practices. Instructors are trained to address safety concerns during class. Safety concerns are addressed before any technique. Techniques are broken down to fundamentals before moving to advance movement to ensure participants safety.

  3. Do I need to bring any equipment to the class?

    • In most cases, we provide any necessary equipment. You may want to bring a water bottle and a towel.

  4. I have a medical condition; can I still participate in the class?

    • Please consult with your healthcare provider before participating. Inform our instructors about any medical conditions, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

  5. What if I miss a class in my membership package?

    • If you miss a class, you can often make it up during a different session within the same membership period, subject to availability and policy.
