🦁✨ 2026 Forward | We Don’t Guess. We Train.Ā šŸŽÆ

šŸ” What I Learned from OSINT Training (and Why It Matters)

I recently completed a four-hour beginner OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) trainingĀ through UncharteredšŸ”— https://www.unchartered.info/training

One thing became clear pretty quickly: there’s no one-size-fits-all way to investigate or solve problems online.Ā The internet changes fast — platforms shift, tools come and go, and people adapt — so OSINT isn’t about memorizing tools. It’s about learning how to thinkĀ and how to adjust when the environment changes.

What really stood out to me was how important it is to stay current. A method that works today might be outdated in six months, which is why following OSINT newsletters, research communities, and ongoing updates isn’t optional — it’s part of the skill. The training also reinforced the value of slowing down, questioning assumptions, and checking context before jumping to conclusions.

We worked through real case studies that showed how small, public pieces of information can be layered together — sometimes accurately, sometimes dangerously wrong. A lot of risk doesn’t come from a lack of data, but from false confidence and incomplete analysis.

Helpful tip: Try auditing your own digital footprint every so often. Search your name, usernames, and email addresses and look at them like an outsider would. You’ll quickly see what patterns someone else could connect — and what you might want to clean up.

Bottom line:Ā OSINT isn’t just a technical skill — it’s a mindset. That way of thinking now shapes how we approach digital safety, youth protection, and prevention at The Lioness Instincts: staying curious, staying flexible, and remembering that awareness is something you practice, not something you check off.

šŸ”— From Learning to Training Others

That OSINT training reinforced something we already live by at The Lioness Instincts: awareness only works if you practice it beforeĀ something goes wrong.

Understanding how information is gathered, layered, and exploited changes how you move online — and it also shapes how we teach others to protect themselves.

That’s why our focus for 2026 is simple:

train early, apply often, and share what works.

That approach is at the heart of our upcoming February workshops.
