Users’ identities could be reverse-engineered—analysts found that many users could be linked to real profiles, amplifying concerns about exposure beyond the app 2.
The app launched as a women-only safety platform, making this breach a hard lesson in assuming platform security just because it targets women.
It reflects a broader pattern—sharing personal information in online tools without data literacy can backfire, even in well-intended spaces.
This incident reinforces why it’s vital to limit metadata generation, control sensitive content sharing, and leverage privacy tools proactively.
